Maya Jones, a Junior at AHS, became the next “Raider of the Month” for February, 2023. The
Activities/Athletics Department of Argonia Junior/Senior High School has decided to recognize one
student a month who has demonstrated exceptional pride and integrity while competing in athletics or
activities. Students are nominated by coaches and sponsors and, once a month, a student is chosen as
“Raider of the Month.”
Maya was chosen for the month of February after being nominated by Mr. Gessleman. He had
this to say about Maya:
I believe Maya Jones deserves to be the student of the month. Maya does excellent
work in class on daily work and projects. She is willing to work with all of her
classmates. On the basketball court, Maya gives enormous effort in practices and
games. Keep up the great work and effort!.
Maya participates in basketball, volleyball, track, soccer, and band.
The “Raider of the Month” is part of a renewed effort to build school pride. The student
selected has their picture on a bulletin board along with comments from the coach or sponsor
who nominated him or her. Look for a new student in March!!

Kadence was chosen for the month of November after being nominated by Ms. Schmidt. She had this to say about Kadence:
“Kadence demonstrates great leadership not only in the classroom, but in the entire school. She is very determined and involved in classroom activities and helps out other students. Kadence shows great pride for our school as she cheered on the Titans every Friday night. Kadence is a powerful member of the Scholars Bowl team and is always anxious to practice and learn to better herself for the team!”
Kadence participates in the following club/organization and activities throughout the year: Argonaires, cheerleader, stage manager for play, scholars bowl, math relays, forensics, and musical festivals.
